G&DDA AGM

The Glendalough & District Development Association AGM takes place on Tuesday 25 March at 8 p.m. in the Brockagh Resource Centre.

Car Boot Sale

The next Car Boot Sale will take place on Sunday 2 March 2014.  Vans must be booked in.  The car boot sale is a great place to get a bargain or sell the unwanted items around your house.  We also have great food stalls with  home-baking, jams, plants and crafts.  Contact the Brockagh Centre on 0404-45600.

Mobile Library

The mobile library is in Laragh every second Thursday.  Don’t forget the new times of the mobile library in Laragh – 12 noon until 12.50pm.  The first 10 minutes are usually outside the Brockagh Centre and then the mobile library goes down outside Lynhams.  The next dates are Thursday 6  March and 20 March.

Citizen’s Information

The Citizen’s Information Centre at the Brockagh Centre is open on 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month. The next dates are Tuesday 4 and 18 March from 10 a.m. until 12 noon for information relating to your rights and entitlements.  No appointment necessary.  This is a free and confidential service.

Operation Transformation

Next week is the last week so one one last push.  See everyone Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Brockagh Centre.  Many of the group are keen to keep a walking group going.  More news to follow.

Get Vocal

The Co Wicklow Get Vocal choir is back.  Are you interested in becoming part of Wicklow Older Peoples Choir (County Wicklow Get Vocal Choir).  Rehearsals will take place in 5 locations  across Wicklow and will come together for a performance in June.  Rehearsals take place in the Brockagh Centre on Tuesday mornings 11 a.m. until 12.30 p.m starting on Tuesday 4 March.   For further information contact Jenny Sherwin, Arts Officer at County Wicklow Arts Office on tel: 0404 20100 Ext: 2510, fax: 0404 66057.  Email: wao@wicklowcoco.ie.

6km Trail Run-Jog-or-Walk

The Laragh-Glendalough 6km Trail Run-Jog-or-Walk will take place on Saturday March 15 2014 at 10 a.m. The run will be a loop through Laragh woods beginning at the rear of Scoil Chaoimhin Naofa and the Brockagh Resource Centre, going out the Wicklow Way and returning via the bottom trail of the beautiful Brockagh mountain to Laragh for coffee and cake. It promises to be a fun day for all levels of runners and walkers but be prepared to get a bit muddy. All monies from registration and refreshments will fund Scoil Chaoimhin Naofa from where the race with start and finish. This trail run promises to be a fantastic event that will bring together the community and the walkers and runners that frequent the Wicklow mountains. Laragh Glendalough Active Retirement

The next lunch is in the Glendalough Hotel on Tuesday 4 March at 12.45 p.m.  We also meet up every Tuesday morning at 11am in the Brockagh Centre for a bit of fun, light exercise and a cuppa.  All welcome to come along and try it out.

Community Awareness of Drugs

Who talks to your children about drugs?  The C.A.D. “Family Focus” programme

is a series of six two and a half hour  sessions which provides participants with an opportunity to:  Update information on drugs and their effects, Explore attitudes, beliefs and

Gymboree Play and Music

Gymboree Play & Music!  Every Friday morning at 10 a.m. in the Brockagh Centre.  Suitable for babies, toddlers and pre-school children from 6months -4years!  Come along and teach your child a love of music through songs, dance, games and musical instruments.  Booking is essential as places are limited – contact Rachel on 086 8330212 to book your place

Get Online Course (Benefit 4)

Book into our 4 week online learning course this week. Learn lots of useful online fun and practical things to do. Friendly, pressure free environment, for free if you are over 65yrs and €15 if you are under. We welcome back all our previous Online Students that did Benefit 3 or Benefit 4 courses.

Basketry Workshop

The one day course on the 8 March is full so Aoife is scheduling another course on Saturday 22March at the Brockagh Centre from 9.30 a.m. until 4.30 p.m..    The course will teach you the basic techniques required to make a traditional skib/potato basket to take home.   Cost 70 euro per person (materials and tools supplied).  If you have your own secateurs bring it along.  There will be tea, coffee and biscuits provided, please bring your own packed lunch.    No experience is required.  Advance booking and  payment is required to ensure your place.  For more details, please contact Aoife at 087-9773622 or email wicklowwillow@gmail.com.

AA Meetings

Closed AA Meetings are held in the Brockagh Resource Centre at 8.30 pm every Monday night.  If you think that you may have a problem with alcohol please come along.
