1. All Ability Trail
Fáilte Ireland issued a tender in August 2024 for a design led-multi disciplinary team
to develop an All Ability Trail to planning stage. An All Ability trail was identified as a
Phase 1 priority project in the VEMMP which, was launched in December 2023.
This trail will connect Laragh in County Wicklow to the Monastic Site and the Visitor
Centre at Glendalough and beyond, passing the Lower Lake to the Upper Lake and
connecting to the Miner’s Road, which are all part of the Wicklow Mountains National
Park. This trail will offer universal accessibility within the Valley, which currently is
not possible. The tender will require the team to undertake a route identification
exercise for the new trail including landowner consultation, environmental and flood
risk assessment, archaeological and built heritage assessment and a technical
assessment and design of the preferred route. This will then be developed into a
planning application, to be made to An Bord Pleánala.

Roundwood Scout Group are looking for help!
We have newly reformed after Covid and we are appealing to the local community of Laragh and Roundwood for help.
We have a small steel storage container with all our equipment in it.
Currently it is in Arklow, but it would be fantastic if someone locally has a space for us to put it instead. We have no dedicated den yet and as we are a volunteer group; this would help us so much.
If this is something you could help us with, please contact Aoife on 087-9773622.
Thank you.
