Car Boot Sale

The next Car Boot Sale will take place on Sunday 4 May 2014.  Vans must be booked in.  A great opportunity to get rid of the clutter.  The car boot sale is also a great place to get a bargain with many items nearly new and some new. We also have great food stalls with  home-baking, jams, plants and crafts.  Contact the Brockagh Centre on 0404-45600.

Gymboree

Gymboree at the Brockagh Resource Centre is back on Friday 2nd May at 10 a.m. Gymboree is musical themed class of active fun promoting a love of music through song, dance, movement games and instruments. Children explore the power of rhythm, melody, tonality and beat while developing physical, social and intellectual skills.  Activities vary depending on children’s ages and abilities and include our famous Parachute and Bubble Time.  Places limited – Booking  essential. Go for Life Games

Laragh Glendalough Active Retirement invite you to come along to the Brockagh Centre at 11 a.m on Tuesday 6 May and try out the Go for Life Games.  Learn how to “lob”, play Scidils and Flisks simple but skillful games for a fun morning.  Call Bernadette on (0404) 45600 to find out more.

Community Alert – Text Alert

General Meeting & Garda Presentation Brockagh Resource Centre, Tue May 6th 8 p.m.   All Welcome.  Community Alert in co-operation with An Garda Síochána have been instrumental in setting up a number of text alerting areas around the country.  The idea is simple. Where a community organizes to be in the scheme the local Garda Station will send text alerts to all registered members of the community should the Gardaí become aware of suspicious activity or unwanted visitors in the area. Signs are also positioned on the approach roads identifying the area as a Text Alert Area. The community in Roundwood has already decided to become a member of the scheme. This meeting is for the community in Laragh/Glendalough to consider should it too join the scheme.

Blessing of Graves

The Blessing of the Graves in Glendalough will take place on Friday 9 May at 8 p.m. and the Blessing of Graves in Brockagh takes place Friday 16 May at 8 p.m.  On both of these evenings there will be mass in St. Kevin’s Church at 7p.m.

Mass for Deceased Forestry Staff

A special mass to remember deceased forestry staff will be celebrated in St. Kevin’s Church Laragh on Saturday 10 May at 12 noon.  Afterwards light refreshments and chat in the Brockagh Centre.  All proceeds in aid of the local branch of SVP.

I’ll Live til I Die

A Show in Words & Music of the balladeer Delia Murphy.  In the late 1930s, all through the war years, and for many years afterwards, Delia Murphy had the nation singing along with her in songs like The Spinning Wheel, Three Lovely Lassies from Bannion, The Blackbird.  3 p.m. Sunday 11 May in the Brockagh Centre.  Contact Bernadette on (0404) 45600 for further information.

Afternoon Tea Dance

Laragh Glendalough Active Retirement association as part of the Bealtaine Festival are hosting an afternoon tea dance on Sunday 25 May from 3-6 p.m.  Music by the Wicklow Man.  Admission 5 euro – refreshments served.

Queens of Pimlico

The Garden Theatre Company present the Queens of Pilmico, written by Derek Masterson on Saturday 31 May at 8 p.m. This two act play set in the early 1950s tenements of Dublin will leave audiences with smiles on their faces and tears on their cheeks.  Admission 8 euro and 5 euro for oap.

A Musical Coffee Morning

A Musical Coffee morning with special guests the Davidson College Church Choir also featuring members of the Co Wicklow Get Vocal Choir on Tuesday 20 May at 11.30 a.m in St Kevin’s Church Laragh and afterwards in the Brockagh Resource Centre for refreshments.  No fee but donations to the Irish Heart Foundation and Make a Wish Foundation.  For information call (0404) 45600.

Footfalls Step Out

Footfall Step Out: A Walking & Back to Basics Weight Loss programme continues twice weekly on Mondays meeting at The Visitor’s Centre Glendalough @7pm & Thursdays meeting at the Brockagh Centre Laragh @7pm. AA Meetings

Closed AA Meetings are held in the Brockagh Resource Centre at 8.30 p.m. every Monday night.  If you think that you may have a problem with alcohol please come along
