Laragh Glendalough Notes Week beg 29th May

Glendalough Car Boot Sales                                                                                                             Takes place on the first Sunday of the month except for January with the next date being Sunday, 4th June. Last month we had a huge number of stalls with everything from cream cakes, scones, bread and jam, plants, antiques, clothing, jewellery etc. Vans must be booked in. Car park spaces for the next month or so will be limited so please pre-book indoor spaces early. Marigold Festival

This year’s Active Retirement Ireland (ARI) Eastern Region South Marigold Festival will take place in the Brockagh Resource Centre on Thursday, 15th June (10 am to 4 pm). Celebrating its fourth year, this one-day Health and Wellbeing event will provide a wonderful opportunity for small businesses to present information, services and positive lifestyle products to both ARI members and the general public. Come and Try Day

Day Come along to the Brockagh Centre on Thursday 1 st June for the free Come and Try Day (11 am to 2 pm, with coffee from 10.30 am and a light lunch at 1 pm). This will be an energetic and sociable occasion resulting in the formation of a team to represent Co. Wicklow at the Go for Life Games in DCU on Saturday 10th June (10 am to 5 pm). Traditional Basket-making Workshop

This full day, traditional basket-making workshop will teach you basic basketry techniques. Taught in a relaxed learning environment, you will bring home your own completed small round willow basket (a skib). The workshops will take place in the Brockagh Centre from 9-5 pm on June 24th, July 16th and August 8th, 2017. Classes are small with 5 participants. Garden workshop   also available on request. Tiny Feet Montessori and Preschool Open Day

Our new pre-school is now open in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh. Sessional and part-time childcare places available, opening times are 9am to 2pm Mon to Friday. We offer the 2yrs free pre-school session for children who qualify (ECCE scheme). All staff are fully qualified in our two room sessional places (Montessori and Preschool) for children aged 2.5yrs to 6yrs. The Gift of Rose

Our dear friend Rose Brady, our sacristan, was a true inspiration to us all. With her strong sense of faith, her commitment to our parish and community, her compassion, concern and kindness, she was a caring mother to every one of us. We thank God for the gift of Rose and for her time among us. We will miss her sorely but know that she will always be with us, in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace.

 

Father Crotty’s Golden Jubilee

This year, Father Crotty will celebrate the Golden Jubilee of his ordination to the priesthood. To mark this very special occasion, an evening of celebration will be held in Lynhams Hotel, starting at 8 pm on Saturday, June 24th. Tickets cost €20 and must be reserved before June 15th . Elevation School of Performing Arts                                                                                                 

Presents its 10 Year Anniversary show, Something Old, Something New on Saturday June 3rd at 6pm in Brockagh Resource Centre. This is a celebration of everything dance and drama from all of our students across all the campuses. We invite everyone young and young at heart to come along, students and supporters past and present to come along and join in the celebrations with us. Kate’s dance students and Kerry’s Drama students will be finishing up for the Summer months on the 7th of June but will see you when new season starts, Autumn 2017,

 

Co.Wicklow Older Peoples Network AGM                                                                                         Minister Simon Harris informed the many Wicklow residents about care for the elderly, moving forward with homecare at the The Wicklow Age Friendly Strategy 2017 -2022 which was launched at the AGM of the Co. Wicklow Older Person’s Council on 26th of May in the Brockagh Resource Centre. Thank you to  Brendan Martin, Crime Prevention Officer and County Librarian and John Gillfor their very informative talks. In the afternoon, after a light lunch, feet got tapping to lively  music by Liam Garret.

Active Retirement Outings

McGrath-Flood School of Irish Dancing Coming to Brockagh Centre/Laragh

Irish Dancing to start on Saturday 16th Sept from  9am-10am. High Intensity Fitness Dane (H.I.F.D)                      

Just pop in on Wednesday evenings at 7pm in the Brockagh Centre to dance your socks off with Adam and the class in cardio exercise dancing, dropping those extra calories. You do not need to be a good dancer or very fit, dance at your own pace and enjoy the music. You can contact Adam on 083 3057949 for information.

Free Digital Skills Computer Course

Walking  group in the Brockagh

Monday mornings weekly at 10am join the walking group with Get Ireland Walking at the Brockagh Resource Centre for a walk around Glendalough area for approximately one hour. In association with Get Ireland Walking, Wicklow Local Sports Partnership & Brockagh Resource Centre. All ages and abilities are welcome. Tidy Towns

We have now had a map of the area prepared and ask all residents to adopt a stretch of road around their premises and keep it clean and tidy. The maps are currently displayed in McCoy’s shop and the Brockagh Centre. Please sign your name in the area you plan to keep clean and tidy. Thanks to all who turned up on May 2 nd to help clean-up the village. The next clean-up will be on 6 th June at 7.30 pm. Meet opposite Lynhams.

 

Mobile Library

The mobile library visits Lynhams car park every second Thursday from 12 noon to 12.50 pm. The next visits will take place on 8th and 22nd June.
