Laragh Glendalough Notes Week beg 15th April 2019

New Local Link Bus Glendalough/Wicklow

A new 183 bus service operating at regular times each day from Glendalough to Wicklow and returning has started. Pick up and drop at Glendalough Visitor Centre, Laragh(Great Gas), Annamoe(Family Fishing Centre), Roundwood(Wood’s Bistro), Ashford, Rathnew then several stops in Wicklow Town.

Development Plans for Laragh and Glendalough

The Wicklow County Council, Laragh and Glendalough Infrastructure Improvements will be on display in the Brockagh Resource Centre lobby from this morning for public viewing.

 Temple na Skellig

Glendalough Heritage Forum (GHF) invites you to a public lecture, Temple na Skellig: new understandings of Francoise Henry’s 1950s’ excavations which will take place at 7 pm on Friday 26th April in the Brockagh Resource Centre. The talk will highlight the results of a new project which finally publishes Henry’s excavations and will also offer very brief news of the ongoing GHF/UCD excavations at Glendalough. In addition, it is planned to ask for help in identifying members of the local workforce who staffed her excavations and who appear in many of the photographs of the site. We Love Art

Art and crafts classes for children of primary school age take place on Monday afternoons.  Classes cover a wide range of art and craft techniques and processes, giving kids an outlet for creative self-expression while learning new skills.  Classes are small and places must be reserved in advance, the first class is free for new students. Adult Art Classes

Wednesday morning  drawing and painting classes are suitable for beginners as well as more experienced painters.  Students choose the medium(s) with which they wish to work, and develop their interests and personal style with Almha’s advice and guidance.  If you are thinking of getting back into your art, or trying something new to explore your creative side, now is a good time!  Classes are at 11-12.30pm in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh, commencing on September 19th. Drama School                                                                                                                          

Drama classes are a fantastic way of developing confidence and encouraging creativity and imagination. Drama modules will incorporate improvisation, mime, script work, vocal training and acting skills. Students will also learn from the Irish Board of Speech and Drama syllabus and be afforded opportunities to take graded examinations under a fully qualified teacher. Pilates Classes in Laragh

Pilates strengthens core muscles, improves muscle control, flexibility, strength and tone, as well as alignment and breathing. Zara Elkinson has trained and qualified through the STOTT Pilates Method of Movement. This method combines modern theories of exercise science with spinal rehabilitation, which gives a safe and effective exercise that sees results and is accessible to all.
