St.Kevin’s Way Annual Pilgrimage Walk

A walk has been organised to take place on St Kevin’s Way on this year’s Easter Saturday, the 16th of April to coincide with Annual Pilgrimage Week.

Joining the pilgrimage route of St Kevin’s Way, the 12km walk will follow the historic trail that connects the 6th century monastic settlement of Glendalough, with the villages of Hollywood, and more recently, Valleymount.

Booking in advance is required with more details available on www.pilgrimpath.ie and on their Facebook page Glendalough Pilgrimage.

The trail has recently benefited from remedial work and a rerouting to enhance the experience under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS).

Early Spring Dawn Chorus Walks

Birds sing to defend a territory and attract a mate. Our resident birds (blackbirds, robins, chaffinches, thrushes, tits etc.) have been singing together at least since February. Now is an excellent opportunity to get to know their songs before the summer migrants arrive. Join a National Parks & Wildlife Service guide and learn how to identify some of these resident birds by their songs. The walk takes place at 6am on Friday 18th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th, allowing between 45-60 minutes. Starting and finishing at the free Coillte owned Trooperstown Wood car park. Booking is essential. To book please email wickloweducationcentre@housing.gov.ie.
