National Heritage Week 17th- 24th August Events
Glendalough in LEGO workshops for Neurodivergent Families
A facilitation of two LEGO workshops at Glendalough Visitor Centre OPW, linking into Heritage Week and the LEGO model of Glendalough on display at the centre. On 24 August, 10:30am – 12:30pm and 2:30pm – 4:30pm The workshops will be open to families with neurodivergent children aged 7+. Each workshop will include 4 themed, autism friendly activities designed to enable the interpretation of Glendalough’s history and architecture in a fun, creative way. Examples include “Build a High Cross” and “Mini Medieval Models”. Funded by the OPW in association with the Glendalough Heritage Forum, the Heritage Council and Wicklow County Council.
Booking will be required; participants book as family groups which can be any configuration up to 4 people. Please note that there are daily parking charges in Glendalough ranging from €4 to €5. Summer family Nature Days at Wicklow Mountains National Park
We are delighted to announce that we have scheduled a series of free fun Family Fun Days over the summer. The Nature Fun Days take the form of a fact-finding treasure hunt with activities, aimed at children aged between 5 and 12 years. Family fun day HQ is in the National Park Information Office, by the Upper Lake in Glendalough, A98R221. To participate in the Nature Fun Day, drop in anytime between 11 am and 4pm. No booking required. This is a free event, although there is a parking charge at the County Council Upper Lake Car Park, A98W778.
Themes and dates are as follows:
Bats 16th July, Oak Tree(s) 23rd July, Dragonflies 30th July, Squirrels 6th August, Freshwater Fish 13th August, Goosander 20th August
