Tidy Town Competition

To achieve good results every year we rely on community help. We take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed their time and effort last year in making our community an attractive area to live in. With this in mind we are asking each of you to look at the space outside your business or residence and see how you can improve it, whether it means regularly picking up litter, planting or weeding etc. The judicators will be viewing the area midsummer and every year our allocated points are up but there is always room for improvement.

Responsible Dog Control Message from Wicklow Uplands Council

Responsible dog control continues to be a major issue for all sheep farmers resulting in the loss and serious injury of their flock and the financial and emotional burden that it creates.

As recreational use of the Wicklow and Dublin Uplands increases, especially with the arrival of warm weather, the presence of dogs close to farmland areas and the hills used for sheep farming, requires a greater awareness of Responsible Dog Control Practices.

Uncontrolled dogs are a serious threat to the livelihood of upland farmers. Dogs loose on the hills cause anxiety within a flock of sheep often causing them to be displaced and getting stuck in rough ground and vegetation.
